The New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES) 2025 performance period ends on Wednesday 31 December 2025.

Regulated entities (such as such as car manufacturers and suppliers who hold a vehicle type approval(Opens in a new tab/window)) have an obligation to meet requirements under the New Vehicle Efficiency Standard Act 2024(Opens in a new tab/window) (NVES Act). As part of this, need to make sure their NVES-specific data is accurate and up to date on the Register of Approved Vehicles (RAV) before Monday 15 December 2025 in order for corrections to be processed in time.

The NVES Regulator uses RAV data to calculate each entity’s interim emissions value (IEV) and associated units, which will be issued in February 2026. If an entity’s IEV is:

  • Above zero, they have not met the requirement for the performance period and will need to take action to manage regulatory obligations.
  • Below zero, they have beaten the requirement for the performance period and will be issued NVES units.
  • Zero, they have met the requirement for the performance period.

We’re encouraging entities to:

  • Review and reconcile their NVES-specific data as entered on the RAV to make sure it is correct. To do this they can log into the NVES Portal(Opens in a new tab/window) to export their NVES data and check it against their own data.
  • Submit a correction through ROVER before Monday 15 December 2025 if they find an error. This will give us time to process the correction and issue them with their IEV on time.
  • Get in touch with NVES account managers to help them prepare for the end of the 2025 performance period and the new 2026 performance period.

If a correction is identified and needs to be made after Monday 15 December 2025, entities should still submit corrections in ROVER. Corrections after this date may result in a delay to IEV calculation and unit issuance.
