We've released a numerical precision and calculations guidance note and a range of educational videos to assist our regulated entities and interested users in understanding how the New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES) works, what our role is and the emissions calculations we use.
The numerical precision and calculations guidance note explains how these calculations are used in administering the NVES. It provides worked examples on how these equations and calculations can be applied. We have developed this to support entities and interested users to understand:
- how the NVES Regulator calculates an entity’s interim emissions value (IEV) and final emissions value (FEV)
- what the relevant equations are to make these calculations
- what the rounding rules are for decimal points
- how to calculate an IEV and FEV.
Download the guidance note now.
In addition to the guidance note, we have developed 3 educational videos that explain:
- who we are and how we administer the New Vehicle Efficiency Standard Act 2024(Opens in a new tab/window) (NVES Act)
- how we calculate an entity’s IEV and what this means
- how the NVES Unit Registry will work, including unit trading and penalties.
